Giants Squad News

After only one win in seven, The Giants will be desperate to get back to winning ways and what better place to do it then under the Headingley lights as we take on Leeds Rhinos in front of the Sky Cameras.

The 21-Man Squad can be found here, with Joe Greenwood and Jermaine McGillvary returning to the 21, and will both be eying a place in Ian Watson's starting 13.

Harry Rushton suffered an injury in training, with the forward currently being assessed by the medical team, after a promising start to the season.

Ian Watson and Winger Innes Senior will speak to the press respectively today at 2pm and 3pm.

The Opposition Team

Leeds Rhinos, coached by former Bradford Bulls Head Coach Rohan Smith, have found themselves just two points ahead of the Giants, after a number of promising performances but being unable to claim the two points in many of the games.

They recently were defeated by Wakefield Trinity 24-14, as Trinity claimed their first two points of the season.

Leeds, had a number of injuries and could explain their form throughout the season, with a number of their more senior players returning for Friday evening, such as winger David Fusitua'a, Aidan Sezer and Sam Lisone.

They did, however run St Helens close at home and narrowly lost in Golden Point, The Rhinos showing their ability to compete with the top teams at home, with the Giants needing to be on their best form to come away with the two points on Friday.

Key Men

As stated above, Leeds will be welcoming back some of the most senior members of their squad, such as Samoan Prop Sam Lisone.

Lisone has won four caps for Samoa including appearing at the 2017 World Cup and has made nearly 150 NRL appearances during his career at the Titans and New Zealand Warriors. Born in Auckland, he was reunited with Leeds Rhinos Head Coach Rohan Smith, who coached him in the Warriors U20s earlier in his career.

They also welcome back winger David Fusitua'a, who before sustaining an injury was in good form scoring three tries before his injury in Round 7.

Ash Handley, Leeds' prolific winger will most likely re-take his more comfortable position on the wing after filling in at full-back for the previous two games to compensate for the loss of Aidan Sezer, who also returns to the squad this week.

The winger has currently made 161 appearances for Leeds, scoring 91 tries during a nine year stint at the club.
